Hello my name is Lyndie. I am in my first semester of working on my master’s degree in Instructional Technology. I will soon begin my 3rd year of teaching high school business and technology. I am also on the Mississippi Business Educators Association board. I received my undergraduate degree from USM in Instructional Technology with a BTE (Business Technology Education) emphasis. In my classroom and in my everyday work, I use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint daily. I also just transitioned from Microsoft Expressions to Dreamweaver for our schools website. Personally I use Keynote, Pages, and iMovie very often. At work, we use email for almost all communication during the day. I have used blogs, podcast, windows movie, and wikis. I do not use them in everyday activity. The only time I have used them or worked with them was in my undergraduate classes as part of assignment requirements. It is not that I do not like them; I just don’t find them useful in my daily work related activities. My goal is to provide an optimal learning environment where students can be as successful as possible; therefore, a strong learning foundation, enforced classroom discipline, student and teacher preparation, and a willingness to learn are essential for a “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow,” classroom. Technology is a major part of achieving these goals. Whether that be through submitting assignments online, having a visual sound meter controlling class noise, or watching video clips for instruction, technology is vital to understanding, organization, and communication. |
